PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical repeating system that makes unnecessary the configuration of an optical system necessary for irradiation with erasing light which has been conventionally necessary, without causing distortion of an image diffracted in a photorefractive element. SOLUTION: The optical repeating system has an optical system 2 comprising an intersecting four-wave mixing optical system of polarized light including a photorefractive element 11 having a plurality of layered photorefractive polymers 11A, 11B, 11C and a polarizing beam splitter 12. A refractive index grating RL is formed in each photorefractive polymer 11A, 11B, 11C by control light CL and pumping light PL in a portion corresponding to any one partial image included in an input image IP. By differentiating input partial images corresponding to the respective photorefractive polymers 11A, 11B, 11C, the arrangement of the partial images in an output image OP is converted.
