PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bit replacing unit of a shield machine, which enables a bit arranged in the central part of a cutter to be efficiently replaced in a shield body. SOLUTION: This bit replacing unit of the shield machine is used for replacing the bit 6, arranged in the central part of the cutter 2, from the rear of a bulkhead 4. The bit replacing device of the shield machine is equipped with: a front hole 21 which is formed in the central part of the cutter 2 in a penetrating manner; a rear hole 22 which is formed in the bulkhead 4 in a penetrating manner; a cylinder 23 which is arranged between the cutter 2 and the bulkhead 4 and formed in such a shape as to enclose the front hole 21 and the rear hole 22; a body 24 of rotation, which is rotatably provided in the cylinder 23 so as to hold the bit 6; and a rotating means 25 for rotating the body 24 of rotation to a position wherein the bit 6 is directed toward the front hole 21, and a position wherein the bit 6 is directed toward the rear hole 22.
