<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device including sensors to sense the stroke ends of a rack bar capable of stabilizing the steering performance by sensing a failure in the sensors or their missensing. <P>SOLUTION: The electric power steering device 10 is equipped with sensors 61 and 62 to sense the left and right stroke ends of the rack bar 14, a steering distance sensing means 56 to sense the straight stroke distance of the rack bar 14, and a stroke end controlling means 70 to drive under control an electric motor 20 on the basis of the sensing results of the sensors 61 and 62 and the steering distance sensing means 56, wherein judgement is passed that the sensors 61 and 62 involve failure when the brake control distance is exceeded by the sensed distance of the steering distance sensing means 56 from sensing of the stroke end by the sensors 61 and 62. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
