A combining servo drive for a steering system has two servo motors, one to provide controlled torque and one to provide the selected steering angle. The first outer ring gear is connected to the steering column while the second ring gear provides the drive output. One of the ring gears is linked to a torque servo motor via a flexible drive, e.g. a belt drive. The compact layout provides a flexible drive combining the two servo motors.
