PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new secondary battery in which the welding structure between a case and a cap plate of the secondary battery is improved. SOLUTION: The secondary battery contains an electrode group 10, having a separator 13 and a positive electrode 11 and a negative electrode 12 arranged on each surface of the separator 13; a case 14 containing the electrode group 10 and having at least one opening end; and the cap plate 31, positioned on the surface of the opening end of the case 14, and in which the periphery has an inclined surface 36 inclined to the case side, and the outermost end of the inclined surface 36 is attached to the surface of the opening end of the case.
