PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve further the precision or reliability of tissue identification by providing information related to the rate of displacement variation of each biological region against a compression force. SOLUTION: A subject 1 is repeatedly scanned with an ultrasonic beam by a probe 2, reflection echo signals of ultrasonic waves from the subject are received, frame data consisting of the reflection echo signals corresponding to a surface where the ultrasonic beam scans are obtained by an RF signal frame data obtaining section 11 while pressure on the subject changes, displacement vectors are obtained at a plurality of measurement points on the surface where the ultrasonic beam scans on the basis of a pair of the frame data obtained at different time points by a displacement measurement section 12, and a displacement variation image showing the rate of displacement variation at each measurement point or a distribution image for statistical feature quantity of the displacement variation is created and displayed by a displacement variation evaluation section 16 to provide information on the rate of displacement variation of each biological region against the compression force.
