PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the stator structure of an axial gap rotary electric machine, with which the space factor can be enhanced by suppressing the swelling due to the curvature of a coil excepting the adjacent corners of a core. SOLUTION: In the stator structure of an axial gap rotary electric machine, where a stator formed by winding a coil 2 around a core 1 and a rotor are arranged facing along the axis of rotation, a recess 11 is provided in any one surface at a portion of the core 1 for winding the coil 2. After the coil 2 has been wound, the coil 2 located in the recess 11 is pressed against from the outer circumferential side of the core 1 toward the inner circumferential side thereof.
