PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a corresponding device for providing HSDPA connection with higher transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a wireless communication network, and to a way in which communication devices select their transmission power when communicating with each other. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of controlling the transmission power of a first communication device in the wireless communications network based on the UMTS standard, the first communication device having established HSDPA connection to a second communication device, whereby the absolute value of the difference between HSDPA transmission power in a first transmission time interval (tti1) and HSDPA transmission power in a subsequent second transmission time interval (tti2) is selected to be smaller than a predetermined value (v).
