PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a substrate for release paper that controls occurrence of balled glue in flat cutting of tuck paper, has excellent operability in sheet cutting, is suitable for production of release paper having excellent peelability and recycling suitability and has excellent blocking resistance and release paper using the substrate for release paper. SOLUTION: The substrate for release paper is obtained by coating one side of base paper with an undercoating layer comprising pigment and a binder as main components. The binder is composed of a complex latex having a core-shell structure consisting of a core part and a shell part. The core part and the shell part comprises a copolymer latex as a main component containing styrene as a monomer unit. The release paper is obtained by providing the surface of the undercoating layer of the substrate for release paper with a release agent layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
