PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an indium oxide powder capable of being uniformly mixed with a tin oxide powder and suppressing generation of pinholes in an ITO sintered compact. SOLUTION: Indium hydroxide is synthesized by mixing an indium salt solution with an alkaline aqueous solution. After being subjected to a 1st firing in the air at 700-800°C, the obtained indium hydroxide is pulverized. The pulverized indium hydroxide is subjected to a 2nd firing in the air at 1,070-1,300°C, so that the indium oxide powder is obtained. The indium oxide powder obtained by this manufacturing method is excellent in mixing property with a tin oxide powder, and an ITO sintered compact being free from irregularity and free from pinholes is manufactured using the indium oxide powder.
