PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking assisting method and a parking assisting device capable of guiding a vehicle even after the vehicle enters a parking target area. SOLUTION: A control device 2 of a navigation device 1 obtains image data G shooting a peripheral view field in a traveling direction of a vehicle, from a rear camera 22 provided on a vehicle by a controlling portion 3 and an image pickup data obtaining portion 10. The image data G are stored in an RAM4 by associating with a vehicular position at each image pickup point. The controlling portion 3 and the image processing portion 11 read out the image data G stored in the RAM4 and produced at the image pickup point behind a present point of the vehicle in the traveling direction. Of the read out image data G, a composite area which is a lower side of the vehicle at the present point, and a composite area of the image data at the present point are composed to produce image composite data.
