PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder which can carry out image recording to a medium to be recorded while suppressing a deflection of a leading end side of the medium even if the leading end side of the medium deflects upward or the like during transfer. SOLUTION: A recording paper 12 stored in a paper feeding cassette 14 is turned to be deformed by a paper feeding tray 18 so that it curves in a nearly U shape in a sectional view in a direction orthogonal to a transfer direction, and so that its curving degree becomes gradually smaller when it is transferred. Moreover, the transfer direction is changed by an end 35b of the upstream side on a platen 35 so that the recording paper 12 fed onto a transfer face 35a of the platen 35 curves in the nearly U shape in the sectional view in the transfer direction. When the leading end side of the recording paper 12 is pressed against the transfer face 35a of the platen 35, even if the recording paper 12 curls along the direction orthogonal to the transfer direction, a part on the transfer face 35a of the platen 35 of the recording paper 12 becomes flat.
