PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection device for positions of control rods capable of preventing an event that the positions of control rods inserted in a reactor pressure vessel can not be detected. SOLUTION: The detection device is attached to control rods inserted in the reactor pressure vessel 1 and comprises a permanent magnet 10 moving together with the control rods 4 and a multitude of lead switch mechanisms 31 placed in the reactor pressure vessel 1 along the direction of the control rod insertion with a constant interval and operated by the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet 10. Each of the lead switch mechanisms 31 has a pair of lead switches 13 and 14 placed to overlap along the direction of control rod 4 insertion and the pair of lead switches 13 and 14 are connected with a common cable 11. The common cable 11 is connected to a detector 41 for detecting the positions of the control rods 4 from the signals of the lead switches 13 and 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
