A heat image camera (1) is used to determine the temperature of a chamber oven in the region of the walls, top and bottom of the chamber (5). The temperature is also determined on the outer side of the coke oven doors and riser pipe. The process is used to determine oven temperatures in the range of ca. 200-1300[deg]C. The heat image camera is equipped with exchangeable holding devices for the areas to be measured in each case. An independent claim is included for a device for control of heat image camera to determine the inside and/or outside temperature of the chamber walls of a chamber oven.
