The engine has each cylinder (1) with cavity, cylinder wall (2') and cylinder head (4, 4') at one end, with a piston (5, 5') moving in the cavity. It also has another cylinder head (3, 3') at the other end, so that the cavity is divided into two combustion chambers (9, 9'), one either side of the piston, one of which is filled with hydraulic oil.
