The disclosed invention is a composition for and a method of treating a HIV infection in a host, such as a human, using a single, once a day, oral dose of ß-D-D4FC in an enteric-coated tablet. The enterically coated ß-D-D4FC increases the amount of the drug that remains in active form for use in inhibiting the HIV virus in vivo.
