PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve driveability while suppressing the sudden acceleration of a vehicle and the slip of a wheel even when an ECB system is malfunctioned. SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program which includes a step (S104) of discriminating whether the ECB system fails or not (is malfunctioned or not) when the operating condition of the vehicle is in a first speed gear range (YES in A100) and when an engine is in a first idling condition (YES in S102), and a step (S108) of allowing the vehicle to travel at a high gear (a second speed gear, e.g.) having a gear ratio smaller than the first speed gear when the ECB system fails (YES in S104).
