PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveyor capable of changing a pitch between parallel lateral bars forming a conveyance supporting surface in a short time without requiring additional costs. SOLUTION: An endless type belt conveyor comprising a plurality of horizontal bars 2, which are respectively fitted to an opposite module element 3 in a free end thereof and connected to each other to form a pair of longitudinal flexible elements, comprises at least one pair of removable insert parts 4, 4', and 5, 5', and supports at least one intermediate bar 6 positioned adjacent to the opposite module element 3 between two continuous horizontal bars 2 for interposition. In the method of reducing a pitch of the belt supporting surface, both ends of at least one intermediate bar 6 are inserted into one pair of opposite removable insert parts 4, 4' and 5, 5', and they are inserted between two continuous horizontal bars 2 of the belt to halve the pitch between the parallel bars.
