PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an ink jet recorder which prevent deterioration in image quality such as an image failure by suppressing adhesion of an image forming body such as an ink color material to a means getting in contact with a medium such as a liquid removing means for removing a liquid on the medium and a pressing means for pressing ink on the medium, or an image on the medium. SOLUTION: A liquid removing part (25) with an absorbing roll (100) which removes the liquid on a recording medium (16) is set at the rear stage of a printing part (12). Surface properties of the absorbing roll (100) relative to the recording medium (16) are specified. The surface properties of the absorbing roll (100) include at least one of a surface roughness, a surface energy and a contact angle. For example, the surface roughness of the absorbing roll (100) is specified to be larger than a surface roughness of the recording medium (16).
