PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire electric discharge machine which calculates and displays a machining time and a machining cost before machining a workpiece by the wire electric discharge machine. SOLUTION: Machining conditions for the workpiece to be machined are stored in a machining condition storage section 13 beforehand. A machining program 5 is read out by an NC apparatus 3 beforehand, and the numerical order of the machining conditions and the information of positional commands are transmitted. The length of a machining path is calculated by a machining path length calculating section 15, and the machining time is calculated by a machining time calculating section 17. The information necessary for calculating the machining cost is input from an input section 19, and the machining cost is calculated in a machining cost calculating section 21, and the machining time and the machining cost are displayed on a display section 23.
