PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide equipment for treating water containing heavy metals, which can be installed even when the installation area is small and to provide a method for treating water containing heavy metals. SOLUTION: The equipment for treating water containing heavy metals is provided with: cylindrical reaction tanks (51, 52) with supply ports (51a, 52a) formed at one end each of the tanks in the longitudinal direction, and with discharge ports (51b, 52b) formed at the other ends and the insides of which are kept airtight; a supply means (A) connected to the supply ports of the reaction tanks for supplying the liquid mixture of water containing heavy metals and a reducing iron compound into the reaction tanks; a liquid sending means (45a) for sending the liquid mixture to be supplied from the supply means to the reaction tanks to the supply ports while pulsating the liquid mixture; and a separation means (B) which is connected to the discharge port (52b) of the reaction tank and in which a precipitate formed from the heavy metals reduced/adsorbed in the reaction tanks and the reducing iron compound oxidized in the reaction tanks is separated to separate heavy metals from water containing heavy metals.
