PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtering device in which the cost is reduced by simplifying a device structure, in which a filtering region is extended by removing not only magnetic impurities but also non-magnetic impurities and in which reliability is improved by retaining high filtering accuracy. SOLUTION: In the device, a main body 1 is provided with a flow passage 7A in which a coolant including magnetic impurities and non-magnetic impurities discharged from a machine tool, a dirty liquid, flows from the lower side to the upper side, and a magnet housing part 8 along both the side of the flow passage. The flow passage is provided with a media unit 12 as a filtering part constituted by combining filtering layers R1, R3 filled with a steel grid G, i.e., a magnetic filtering medium (metal powder) and a filtering layer R2 filled with abrasive powder T, i.e., a non-magnetic filtering medium. The magnet housing part houses movable permanent magnets 20 at a filtering position magnetizing the steel grid by positioning at both the side of the media units and at a cleaning position making freely movable state by releasing the steel grid from the magnets by separating from the media unit.
