PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edible disinfecting agent extremely safe to the human body and producible at an extremely low cost on industrial production while maintaining high quality, and to provide a method for producing the disinfecting agent. SOLUTION: This edible disinfecting agent is composed of only citric acid, alcohol, and water, and has pH≤3. The method for producing the edible disinfecting agent comprises electrolyzing object water to decrease the oxidation-reduction potential of the object water to prescribed electric potential, and adding alcohol together with citric acid to the object water decreased to prescribed electric potential so as to adjust pH to≤3.
