Each of the belts (6) is associated with a cleaning unit (11) comprising a series of spaced, resilient strips (12) extending along the direction of conveying. A cooler (2) is included after the dryer (1). This has a second set of belts with similar cleaning units. All belts are spiral mesh belts. Each cleaning unit is located near a belt drive roller (8). The strips are made of rubber or silicon rubber and the spacing between them is 10-50 mm. Strip thickness is 1-5 mm and each is 50-150 mm long.
