Scanning device for collision warning and navigation of aircraft passenger boarding and disembarking platforms

The scanning device monitors a surrounding area. The angle of the scan plane of a laser scanner (1) is varied by means of an adjustment device with a motor (6). The angle is recorded by a rotary generator (7). Data may be generated regarding the position of objects in the monitored area. The apparatus may be installed between two platforms and collision warnings can e generated from the position data.
