A method and system for managing a home network. A control unit in the home network management system receives an interactive service information between an outer network and a home network device; transmits the service information to a log unit to be stored. The control unit or the manager manages, for example, updates a log rule and/or a filter rule, for the home network according to the stored service information in the log unit. The invention can obtain the use frequency and condition, determines whether the device in the home network exchanges a bad information with the outer network, thereby the manager and the home network management system adopt the corresponding management step and realize the effective management to a home network.
