摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device capable of preventing the occurrence of a ghost image which is caused by allowing noise light due to inner reflection of a projection optical system to go backward and re-reflecting the noise light by means of reflection type liquid crystal display elements that are provided every color light when polarization modulated light from the respective display elements is composed by a color composition prism and is projected by the projection optical system. <P>SOLUTION: Aλ/4 wavelength plate 20 which transforms polarization state between linearly polarized light and circularly polarized light is disposed between a cross dichroic prism 19 for color composition and the projection optical system 21. Each of wavelength-selective wavelength plates 16B, 16G, 16R which transmits projected color light without changing polarizing direction and rotates the polarizing direction by 90°with respect to other color light is arranged between each incident surface of the cross dichroic prism 19 and each of polarization beam splitter 14B for B light, polarization beam splitter 14G for G light and polarization beam splitter 14R for R light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
