PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus in which a line capacitance can be easily decreased, and to provide an electronic appliance equipped with the apparatus. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display apparatus includes an active matrix substrate 100a, a counter substrate 100b, and a liquid crystal layer 13 disposed between these substrates. Between the active matrix substrate 100a and the counter substrate 100b, the counter substrate 100b having an alignment regulating structure 21 has a dielectric structure 30 made of the same dielectric material as the alignment regulating structure 21, between a signal line 18 and a counter electrode 12. The dielectric constant of the dielectric material constituting the dielectric structure 30 is lower than the dielectric constant of the liquid crystal material constituting the liquid crystal layer.
