PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive pump with little abrasion of parts, eliminating the need of supply of water to a shaft seal device. SOLUTION: The pump 10 comprises: a rotational shaft 16 connected with a motor; an impeller 13 attached to the rotational shaft 16; casings 11, 12, 14; a decompression impeller 18 preventing liquid whose pressure is increased by the rotation of the impeller 13 from flowing to the outside; and a shaft seal device 20. The shaft seal device 20 has: a seal mechanism 30 sealing between the rotational shaft 16 and the casing 14; and a seal release mechanism 40 releasing the sealing of the seal mechanism 30 by action of a centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the rotational shaft 16.
