PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a common section structure of an existing apartment which has improved workability while maintaining fire resistance. SOLUTION: The structure of the common section of the apartment 1 provided to the existing apartment is provided with an elevator 3, a corridor 7, and a connection corridor 11 connecting the corridor 7 to each of the dwelling units 9a to 9d. Then beams and pillars comprising the structure are constituted by fire resistance steel, and a stairwell 17 is provided between the corridor and the openings 15a to 15d of each of the dwelling units 9a to 9d. Furthermore, the width of the open ceiling is set so that it satisfies the following equation (1). The equation (1) is expressed by the equation, the width of the open ceiling≥the height of the opening of the dwelling unit×2/3 + the length of an overhung part of the peripheral end part of the opening.
