PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shoe, which integrates motions of the foot and the shoe by generating no gap between the side part of the arch of the foot and a quarter of a waist part of the shoe when the shoe is worn. SOLUTION: In the shoe 1 fastened with an instep strap 11, the lateral width 9 of the waist part 8 is made narrower and smaller than the lateral width 10 of the quarter 3, the instep strap 11 is engaged with a bottom 4 and a midsole 5 of the waist part 8, the lower edge of the quarter 3 is fixed on the midsole 5, an insole 6 is fixed thereon, and further a sock 7 is laid thereon, the instep strap 11 is extended outward from between the bottom 4 and the midsole 5, the instep strap 11 has a sufficient length to cover and engage the instep of the foot 18 in the shoe independently of the quarter 3, and length-adjustable engagement portions engaged with each other and composed of hook and loop fastener tapes 14 and 15 are disposed at the right and left ends of the instep strap 11.
