<p>An automotive piston engine has a lubrication system with a sump (2) located under the crankcase. Oil is abstracted from the sump by a pump for delivery to demand points e.g. crankshaft bearings (14), camshaft bearings (16), hydraulically-adjusted valve tappets (20, 22), and an oil radiator (42). Oil supplied to the valve tappets (20, 22) by-passes the oil radiator.</p> |
