Provided is a method for controlling the thickness of a phosphor film, which allows formation of a phosphor layer with a small and uniform thickness in flat panel display devices, and reduces the time and cost required to control the thickness of a phosphor film. The method for controlling the thickness of a phosphor film comprises the steps of: attaching the adhesive surface of an adhesive tape(30) to the surface of a phosphor film(20); and detaching the adhesive tape from the phosphor film to remove the phosphor film by a desired thickness. The thickness of the phosphor film may be controlled by adjusting the adhesion, detaching rate, detaching force or detaching angle of the adhesive tape.
