<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink composition which is suitably used for an inkjet recording method and combines good printing quality and good ink discharge reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The ink composition at least contains a pigment, a water-soluble solvent, and a 4-6C alkyl alcohol in an amount of 0.05-0.5 wt.%. The water-soluble solvent is preferably a 1,2-alkanediol or glycerol, and the 1,2-alkanediol is preferably 1,2-hexanediol.
