<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for detecting an original size in a shorter time by excluding a loss time caused by awaiting the processing for a predetermined standard time until an output of a light source is stabilized in an original size detection system using a CCD used for original reading. <P>SOLUTION: The flowchart for detecting the original size includes: a step 102 of checking a lamp output, and awaiting a lamp stable state in order to immediately start the detection of the original size when the normality of the lamp output is detected; a step of moving a carriage (an exposure scanning system such as a lamp and a mirror are mounted thereon) as soon as the lamp is lighted in a lamp stable awaiting state, reading a white reference board, and comparing the obtained white level with a predetermined target value for discriminating a normal output; a step of awaiting the processing for a prescribed time when the white level does not reach the target value as a result of the comparison, and again checking the output; a step of carrying out error management such as error notice without detecting the original size when the white level dose not reach the target value after a prescribed number of times of trials; a step of regarding the lamp output to be normal and immediately shifting to an original size detection step (S104) when the white level reaches the target value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
