PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting each toner concentration with high accuracy, without having to limit the detectable toner concentration of each developer and capable of achieving manufacturing cost reduction, and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: The toner concentrations of developers are detected from a plurality of input voltages, supplied to corresponding magnetic type sensors 61, 62, 63 and 64 provided so that the input voltages can be changed and from a plurality of sensor output values captured by the input voltages supplied to the corresponding magnetic type sensors 61, 62, 63 and 63.
