<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device which can more appropriately read a code which consists of a figure pattern displayed on a screen. <P>SOLUTION: If a code read mode is set as a read mode, a CPU 101 turns off a light source of an image sensor 21, sets a scan range of an image sensor 21 at maximum, and starts scanning (S100-S115).
