摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary air supply device for an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing change of the amount of new inflow gas with respect to an intake system even when secondary air is supplied to an exhaust system. <P>SOLUTION: This secondary air supply device 25 is provided with a turbocharger 8 performing supercharging by using exhaust energy of the internal combustion engine 1; an electric motor 9 assisting supercharging by the turbocharger 8; a PM collecting device 16; and a secondary air supply passage 26 guiding secondary air pressurized by the electric motor 9 to the upstream side of the PM collecting device 16. Forced regeneration operation for burning particulate matters accumulated on the PM collecting device 16 and forcedly regenerating its function is appropriately performed. When the amount of the particulate matters accumulated on the PM collecting device 16 exceeds limit amount and an operating condition of the internal combustion engine 1 is changed from high load to deceleration or idling, the electric motor 9 is operated to avoid overheating of the PM collecting device 16 by the forced regeneration operation, and secondary air is supplied to the upstream side of the PM collecting device 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
