PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone in which, every time opening and folding the portable telephone, it is not necessary to to change the orientation of the portable telephone or to change the carrying position of the portable telephone, and thereby operationality and user-friendliness thereof can be improved. SOLUTION: In a folded sate of the portable telephone 1, a second display 20 displays characters or images with a hinge 4 directed to an upper side so that a user carries the portable telephone 1 with a hinge 4 direction positioned on the upper side. In this state, the user can open the portable telephone 1 by opening a first housing 2 with a second housing 2 carried by the user. In the folded state of the portable telephone 1, the user can photograph using a camera 21. In this case, a second display 20 can be used as a finder at photographing. Image data taken in the folded state of the portable telephone 1 are stored in a state of being rotated at 180°with respect to image data taken in the open state of the portable telephone 1.
