PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring out the potential of a toner to the maximum extent possible, and to provide a toner excellent in developing performance, transferability and fixing property, nearly independent of the environment, and having good durability and stability. SOLUTION: The toner has toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant and inorganic fine particles, wherein the inorganic fine particles are fine particles formed by a sol-gel process and have an M<SB>HH</SB>to M<SB>NL</SB>ratio of 1.0-2.0, wherein M<SB>HH</SB>represents a moisture content of the inorganic fine particles after allowed to stand in a high temperature and high humidity environment; after allowed to stand in a 30°C/80% environment for 72 h, and M<SB>NL</SB>represents a moisture content of the inorganic fine particles after allowed to stand in a normal temperature and low humidity environment; after allowed to stand in a 23°C/5% environment for 72 h, the moisture content M<SB>NL</SB>after allowed to stand in the normal temperature and low humidity environment is 0.1 to <3.0%, and the inorganic fine particles have an average particle diameter of 80-200 nm.
