PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe for ultrasonic flaw detection and capable of high accuracy, high efficiency, and appropriate detection of flaws for all the weld lines of even welded steel pipes having narrow distances between the welded part of such a pipe as a spiral-welded steel pipe with ribs and ribs by ultrasonic flaw detection, using a probe of angle beam method by a pulse reflection method. SOLUTION: The probe for ultrasonic flaw detection is constituted of an ultrasonic probe, mounted in the insertion hole of a probe holder; a ring-like groove, formed in the bottom surface of the probe holder at a prescribed interval from the cinsertion hole of the ultrasonic probe; and a ring-like heat-resistant sponge, mounted in the ring-like groove with its lower part protruding from the bottom surface of the probe holder so as to be in contact with the surface of a pipe body, that is to be an object of flaw detection. As a result, the overall probe can be formed compact and stably perform ultrasonic flaw detection, even at narrow flaw detection parts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
