PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectacle lens periphery machining device which carries out machining in a manner suitably preventing axial deviation during machining and shortens a machining period. SOLUTION: The spectacle lens periphery machining device is provided with: a lens rotating means which has a lens rotating shaft for holding a spectacle lens and a first motor for rotating the lens rotating shaft: a center distance varying means which has a second motor for varying a center distance between a rotating shaft of a machining tool for machining a lens periphery, and the lens rotating shaft; a torque detecting means which directly or indirectly detects torque transmitted to the lens rotating shaft; a control means which controls driving of at least one of the first motor and the second motor in order to adjust at least one of a rotational speed of the lens rotating shaft and a lens machining pressure such that the detected torque is set below a predetermined allowable level; a display means which displays torque information detected by the torque detecting means when a load is applied to the lens held by the lens rotating shaft; and an operating means by which the operator carries out input operation for varying the torque allowable level.
