In a device with one or more movable parts and including a primary hydraulic braking system in communication with, and engageable with, those movable parts, a secondary braking system comprising: means to engage the secondary braking system; means to isolate one or more portions of the primary braking system in communication with one or more movable parts; and means to act on the one or more isolated portions to apply a braking force to the one or more movable parts.
