<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably secure proper EGR rate and turbo drive force even during a transient operation followed by an abrupt change of load. <P>SOLUTION: In this EGR device, a part of exhaust gases 8 is extracted from the exhaust manifold 9 of an engine 1 having a turbocharger 2 and recirculated to an intake manifold 6 (intake passage). The exhaust manifold 9 is divided into a main manifold 9a having the inlet of the turbine 2b of the turbocharger 2 and a remaining sub manifold 9b by a gate valve 11, and the sub manifold 9b is connected to the intake manifold 6 through an EGR pipe 12 having an EGR valve 13. When the engine 1 is determined to be in a transient operating state followed by the abrupt change of load, the gate valve 11 is closed, and the EGR valve 13 is opened to a predetermined opening. When the engine is not determined to be in the transient operating state, the controller opens the gate valve 11 and properly control the opening of the EGR valve 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
