<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing light emission by setting the state of light emission to be performed in accordance with the circumstances of the apparatus to the different ones while reducing an unpleasant feeling given to the user by the light emission. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has three kinds of modes comprising a light emission stop mode, a manner mode, and an ordinary light emission mode, and whether or not to perform lighting a touch panel 102 and an LED 104 corresponding to each of a plurality of circumstances of the apparatus in the respective modes is stored in an NVRAM 101 in advance.
