<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording device which can reduce the time until recording/reproducing on a disk having multiple recording layers and its control method, an optical information recording medium, and an optical information recording device using the above optical information recording medium and its control method. <P>SOLUTION: When focus jump is started, this device first finds out the recording layer currently focused from the memory 226 and sets up the target recording layer for focusing. Then, an operational expression in the logic operation circuit 225 is set and the focusing point is moved toward the target layer obtained in the operation. In detecting the level of the RF amplitude detection signals outputted from the logic operation circuit 225, the focus is pulled in when the level of the detected output signals is high.
