PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to a document and damage to a feeding device resulting from feeding of documents in a bound state and to force an operator to perform no troublesome operation. SOLUTION: An ADF 102 which is disposed above a reader section 101 and sends a document mounted on a document tray 17, sheet by sheet, to an image read position of the reader section 101, the ADF 102 is provided with a metal sensor 50 for sending a metallic body fitted to the document on the exterior 60 of the device which is visible from outside the device.
