PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stack control device and method which is used for executing a program in a microprocessor or the like. SOLUTION: In the stack control device 10, an interruption controller 18 monitors the capacity of an H/W stack 26, and generates and reports push and pop interruptions when it reaches push and pop object capacities, respectively, to a main control part 12. The main control part 12 fetches and pushes data from the bottom of the H/W stack 26 to an S/W stack 28 according to push interruption, and repeats this operation by a predetermined number of retreats, as push interruption processing, and pops and stores data from the S/W stack 28 to the bottom of the H/W stack 26 according to pop interruption, and repeats this operation by a predetermined number of returns as pop interruption processing. According to this, even if a program such that it exceeds the capacity of a stack register is executed, the program can be executed without stoppage or run-away. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
