PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide particles for a display medium, wherein rudgeness are formed on the surface of the particle, and the hardness is controlled to have a high value, and to provide a display panel in which lowering of display quality is eliminated by using the particles. SOLUTION: The particles for the display medium are used for the display panel conducting a display by sealing in the display medium between two sheets of substrates of which at least one is transparent, and transferring the display medium by imparting an electric field to the display medium, wherein (1) the particles are nearly spherical particles produced by polymerizing a particle raw material containing a monomer, wherein the particle raw material contains an (acrylic/methacrylic) based resin-hydrocarbon resin based copolymer or an (acrylic/methacrylic) based resin-(acrylic/methacrylic, having hydrocarbon or fluorohydrocarbon on the side chain) based resin copolymer, and a part or all of the monomer is a polyfunctional monomer with a plurality of polymerization reactive groups in a molecule, and have uniform fine projecting and recessing parts on the particle surface, and, (2) in the case the particles are pressurized so as to be deformed, force necessary for deforming the particle by 10% is set to be 1 mN or more.
