PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane elastomer fiber having sufficient heat-weldability and excellent heat-resistance in heat-setting, resistant to yarn breakage and degradation over the whole yarn on a pirn and having excellent heat-weldability and provide a method for the production of the fiber. SOLUTION: The heat-weldable polyurethane elastomer fiber has a melting point of 165-200°C measured by a flow temperature method, is free from yarn breakage over the whole area on a pirn and has a heat-welding force of≥0.15 cN/dtex measured by a plating knit fabric method on a fabric heat-treated at a temperature in the above range.
